ANN ARBOR Michigan freshman running back Sam McGuffie is considering whether to return for his sophomore season, Wolverines coach Rich Rodriguez said.

McGuffie, who was reportedly absent from UM s team banquet this week, may leave school because of family issues at home in Texas.

Rodriguez also said there is concern over the three concussions McGuffie suffered during his freshman year, including one on his first and only play against Ohio State.

The coach, who spoke at halftime of Saturday s UM-Duke basketball game, also said junior defensive end Carson Butler will likely enter the NFL Draft and freshman running back Avery Horn will probably transfer.

Rodriguez reiterated earlier statements that junior defensive end Brandon Graham, the Wolverines 2008 most valuable player, will return for his senior season. The coach said he was still evaluating his coaching staff and declined to announce any changes.
