ANN ARBOR --- Michigan starting running back Michael Shaw is expected to play Saturday against Michigan State, coach Rich Rodriguez said Monday.

Shaw was injured two weeks ago against Bowling Green and did not play Saturday in the Wolverines' win at Indiana.

Like UM, Michigan State is 5-0. It is the first time since 1999 that both teams are undefeated at the time of their meeting. The No. 16 ranked Spartans have won the past two games against their in-state rival.

Rodriguez said he is optimistic that Greg Banks (undisclosed injury) will be available to play Saturday. Running back Fitzgerald Toussaint (shoulder) is day-to-day, Rodriguez said.
