ANN ARBOR — Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 19 points to lead Michigan to 66-35 victory over South Carolina Upstate Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.
Upstate had the first basket — a 3-pointer by Tony Dukes — but Michigan scored the next 13 points, and the game was never again in doubt.
The Wolverines led 36-18 at halftime.
Michigan got 13 points from Darius Morris, and Stu Douglass added eight off the bench.
The Spartans, in just their fourth year of Division I basketball, were led by Chalmers Rogers' seven points.
