Hoke shares his joy of becoming UM football coach
1/12/2011ANN ARBOR --- Brady Hoke said Wednesday afternoon that he and his family would have walked from San Diego to Ann Arbor for him to become Michigan's next coach.
A professional dream of Hoke's was realized when he was formally announced as the program's 19th head coach at a press conference on campus.
Hoke, previously of San Diego State, is soon expected to sign a six-year agreement, though athletic director Dave Brandon would not disclose Hoke's salary or incentives.
Hoke said he will finalize his coaching staff within the next three or four days. He emphasized that the Michigan job is still an elite job despite the program's recent struggles and that his goal is to win “consecutive” Big Ten championships.
Brandon confirmed that sophomore quarterback Tate Forcier is no longer with the program. Forcier was suspended for the Gator Bowl because of being academically ineligible.
