ANN ARBOR, Mich.  — The University of Michigan regents have approved a $14 million renovation of the school’s hockey venue, Yost Ice Arena.

The regents approved the work Thursday. The project is scheduled to begin after the 2011-12 hockey season and be completed by the start of the 2012-13 season.

The university says the renovations include replacing the bleacher seats, creating handicapped-access seating and boxes.

The school’s athletic department has a $121.2 million budget for the coming fiscal year.
