Brown transfers to Findlay from UM

Fremont Ross graduate Greg Brown left the Wolverines football team in late October.

Former Michigan football player and Fremont Ross graduate Greg Brown has transferred to Findlay and will be eligible to play next year, according to Findlay coach Rob Keys.

A true freshman this past season, Brown left Michigan in late October during the team's bye week. The reserve cornerback played mostly on special teams, including as the gunner on punt coverage.

In addition to being named Division I first team All-Ohio as a senior, Brown was a consensus three-star recruit. His highest assessment came from ESPN, which ranked Brown as the nation's 35th best cornerback. Brown was the first recruit to commit to Michigan in the 2011 class and was the only member of that class to enroll early and participate in spring practices. By all accounts, he enjoyed a productive spring as he elicited high marks from his coaches.

Michigan coach Brady Hoke declined to delve into specifics of Brown's departure at the time of it, stating simply that "Greg is no longer part of our team."

At Findlay, Brown will join a team that went 6-5 this fall under first-year coach Keys and improved its win total by five from 2010. The Oilers top moments came in wins over Grand Valley State to snap an 11-game losing streak in that series and against eventual NCAA Division II runner-up Wayne State to close the regular season.

The spring semester at Findlay began Monday.
