CHICAGO — It was a game the Michigan basketball team didn't want to be playing, and it showed early. But UM brushed aside a listless start to roll past Penn State 83-66 in its Big Ten Tournament opener today at the United Center.

Four days after a wrenching loss to Indiana dropped the Wolverines to a No. 5 seed, they fell behind 14-3 before redirecting course. Michigan answered with an 11-0 run to tie the game and pulled away early in the second half.

Trey Burke scored a game-high 21 points while Tim Hardaway Jr., and Nik Stauskas each added 15. Michigan (26-6) will play fourth-seeded Wisconsin at approximately 2:30 p.m. Friday.
