AUBURN HILLS, Mich.-- Mitch McGary scored 21 points and powered the Michigan men's basketball team to a 78-53 win over Virginia Commonwealth in a third-round NCAA Tournament South region matchup today at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
McGary paced the No. 4 Wolverines (28-7) at the start of the second half, scoring nine points in a span of two minutes to help Michigan stretch its lead to 49-33 in one of the more anticipated games today in the NCAA Tournament.
Juvonte Reddic led No. 5 VCU (27-9) with 16 points.
Michigan will face either No. 1 Kansas or No. 8 North Carolina in a Sweet Sixteen game in Arlington, Texas.
