A.J. Williams, a sophomore tight end on the Michigan football team, was arrested Sunday morning in Oxford, Ohio, and charged with operation of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, underage possession of alcohol and running a stop sign.

Michigan coach Brady Hoke announced today that Williams is suspended for Saturday's game at Michigan State for a violation of team rules.

"It's certainly disappointing when one of your kids makes a very poor decision," Hoke said in a statement. "A.J. realizes he has let a lot of people down, including himself. As families do, we will help A.J. as he learns a valuable lesson from this."

According to a police report obtained from the Oxford Police Department, Officer Matt Wagers pulled over Williams at the intersection of Elm Street and Church Street in Oxford after ran a stop sign, and found Williams to be under the influence of alcohol.

Sgt. Jon Varley of the Oxford Police Department said today that Williams, 19, registered a .122 on a breathalyzer test administered at the scene and was arrested, processed at the Oxford police department and released on his own recognizance. Varley said Williams has a court date of Thursday on the traffic violation.

Williams is a Cincinnati native who has played in six games at tight end, including four starts, and has also played on special teams for the Wolverines.
