Transmitter problem bumps WUPW off air

12/4/2002

WUPW-TV, Channel 36, lost its broadcast signal for about two hours last night when it went off the air just after 9 p.m. during the start of 24, the Fox Network's popular national security-espionage thriller.

“We are having problems with the transmitter,” Jose Suarez, the station's news director, said.

An engineer was able to get the station back on air about 11 p.m.

WUPW-TV was hit with a power outage Nov. 10 during the height of a wave of tornadoes that swept through northwest Ohio. The Fox affiliate was off the air from 5:16 to 6:16 p.m.
