BGSU alum s film to aid fight against cystic fibrosis

11/7/2003

Filmmaker and Bowling Green State University alumnus Scott Malchus will attend a benefit screening of his movie, King s Highway, tomorrow night at BGSU.

He will be available to take questions and comments about the film, a romantic comedy about a young man trying to get from San Francisco to San Diego before the woman of his dreams gets married.

The film was shot in 2001 for just $3,000, and features Lori Heuring, John DiResta, and Geoff Stults, all of whom have television or movie credits.

After the nine-day shoot, the director s infant son, Jacob Malchus, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, an incurable genetic disease. The film s premiere last June served as a fund-raiser for efforts to battle the disease.

Tickets for the Bowling Green screening are $5, with proceeds going to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The film starts at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the Bowen Thompson Student Union Theater at BGSU.
