Sylvania film festival adds contest for K-8 grades

The Sylvania Community Arts Commission has added a new feature to the upcoming list of activities during the Tree City Film Festival.

The festival committee has decided to include a short-film challenge for students in grades K-8.

Sylvania area students are invited to create a 3- to 5-minute film. The films can be made using a cell phone or any other digital device.

A celebrity panel will judge entries, with winning submissions shown at a ticketed event, set to take place April 12. Completed entries must be postmarked by April 1.

Entry and release forms are available at SylvaniaArts.org after Friday.

All entries must be submitted as digital content on a DVD or flash drive.

The Tree City Film Festival, which will include screening premieres, awards, and related events, will be held April 12 and 13.

Events will be held at several locations, including downtown Sylvania’s historic train barn on the grounds of the Sylvania Historical Village.
