More than 200 movies will be shown at the 10th annual Traverse City Film Festival this summer, from timeless classics to little-known independents that founder Michael Moore describes as “hidden gems.”

The festival released its lineup this week. The event runs from July 29 through Aug. 3.

Among free films to be shown on a giant outdoor screen are Jaws, Casablanca, Star Wars, and The Wizard of Oz. Opening-night attractions include Woody Allen’s Magic in the Moonlight and the Irish film Calvary.

This year’s event will feature showings at a new theater called “The Buzz” and evening films aboard a boat cruising Grand Traverse Bay.

Another new twist is a showing of films in six other northern Michigan towns the week before the Traverse City festival begins.
