LOUISVILLE — Win No. 1 remains elusive for the Mud Hens.

The Louisville Bats topped Toledo 6-4 on Saturday afternoon before an announced crowd of 8,225.

The Bats’ Jason Donald went 4-for-5, including a pair of doubles, and drove in a run to help keep the Mud Hens (0-3) in pursuit of their first win of the season.

Former Mud Hens third baseman Mike Hessman drove in two runs for the Bats (3-0). Louisville took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning before adding two runs in the third and three in the fourth to build a comfortable 6-2 lead.

Gustavo Nunez went 2-for-5 and scored a run to lead the Mud Hens, who were held to six hits. Brad Davis, who went 1-for-4 at the plate, tallied two RBIs when he connected on a two-run base hit in the second inning to give Toledo a 2-1 advantage. Ben Guez tagged a solo home run off Bats closer Justin Freeman with no outs in the final frame to pull the Hens to within two runs.

Louisville middle-reliver Chad Reineke earned the decision after pitching four hitless innings, striking out four and walking one. He replaced Bats starter Greg Reynolds, who gave up three runs on four hits while striking out one and walking four.

Freeman earned the save by closing out the game in the ninth, allowing one run on two hits and striking out one. Freeman settled down after giving up the homer to Guez and finished out the inning without allowing another run.

Mud Hens starter Casey Crosby suffered the loss after giving up six runs on five hits in three innings of work.
