Mud Hens lose 4th straight after rallying for extra innings

NORFOLK, Va. — The Mud Hens rallied for three runs in the eighth to tie their game with Norfolk, then gave up a run in the 11th in a 6-5 loss.

Toledo now has lost four in a row and seven of its last eight.

The Tides winning rally in the 11th began with a double by Travis Ishikawa, who was replaced by pinch-runner Trayvon Robinson. Hens reliever Jess Todd got one out, then issued an intentional walk before a groundout by Lew Ford put runners on first and third with two outs.

Chris Robinson singled in the winning run.

Norfolk built a 4-0 lead early. In the first inning Jason Pridie drew a leadoff walk from Hens starter Shawn Hill, then moved to second on a groundout by L.J. Hoes before scoring on a single by Russ Canzler.

Hill walked Danny Valencia to push Canzler to third, and Canzler came home on a two out single by Yamaico Navarro. The Tides added a pair of runs in the third.

The Mud Hens were held scoreless until the sixth. Quintin Berry opened the rally with a walk, and Nick Castellanos doubled him to third. Both came home on a single by Jordan Lennerton.

The Tides got one run back in the bottom of the sixth when Canzler hammered his fifth home run of the year.

Toledo scored three times in the eighth as Bryan Holaday doubled, then moved to third on a single by Castellanos before scoring on a single by Lennerton.

John Lindsey was hit by a pitch to load the bases with none out, and a groundout by Danny Dorn scored Castellanos. Pinch-runner Ben Guez was thrown out at home on a groundout by Kevin Russo, but a two-out single by Argenis Diaz scored Lindsey.

NOTE: The Mud Hens placed LHP Pat Misch on the disabled list. RHP Derek Hankins was promoted from Double-A Erie to start in his place today.
