Hens seek `School Day' seats

For the second straight year the Mud Hens are looking to “buy” back tickets to their own games.

In particular the Hens are looking for season-ticket holders to exchange tickets for the games on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 13-14.

Those two games are the second and third “School Day Celebration” events of the season, and roughly 1,000 area students are looking to purchase tickets for those contests.

Season tickets for those games can be exchanged for a field-level ticket to any remaining regular-season home game played Monday through Thursday.

“We thought we were taking a chance by doing three games,” said Hens general manager Joe Napoli yesterday. “It looks like next year we'll have to consider a fourth game.”

The Hens also will host area youths on Tuesday, April 29. All three games, which are scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m., are sold out. The Hens are not asking for tickets to the April 29 game.

Last season the Hens found themselves in the same situation for their second “School Day” game; according to Napoli, the team needed approximately 1,500 tickets for the May 21 contest versus Charlotte.

A crowd of 10,907 jammed into Fifth Third Field for that game, the second-largest attendance figure in the stadium's first season.
