Hens rained out, to play 2 today

DURHAM, N.C. - The Mud Hens' scheduled game against the Bulls last night was postponed by rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader today, with the first seven-inning game starting at 5:30 p.m.

In that first game the Hens will send lefty Nate Robertson (5-5) to the mound to face Durham's Gerardo Garcia (1-1). The nightcap will see Toledo's Gary Knotts (1-0), a right-hander, face Bulls southpaw Cedric Bowers (1-1).

Last night's rainout means the Hens are scheduled to play back-to-back doubleheaders. Tomorrow Toledo will play a pair of games at Charlotte.

to make up for a rainout on May 24; that will give Toledo four twinbills in eight days.

After completing the 12-game road trip with a single game at Charlotte on Thursday, the Hens will return home for a four-game series with Syracuse starting Friday.

NOTES: The Detroit Free Press is reporting that outfielder Gene Kingsale will accept an assignment to Toledo, should he clear waivers. Kingsale was designated for assignment by the parent Tigers on Sunday. , meaning major league clubs had 72 hours to place a waiver claim on him. Should no club claim Kingsale, he can either report to the Mud Hens or become a free agent.
