3/23/2005

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Mud Hens improved to 3-0 in exhibitions with a 6-4 victory yesterday over Richmond, Atlanta's Triple-A affiliate.

The Braves scored an unearned run in the top of the ninth to tie the contest, but Toledo's Jack Hannahan led off the bottom of the ninth with a double. Curtis Granderson then lined an RBI double off the wall in left field to score the winning run.

Rayner Bautista followed by lining a run-scoring single as the game continued to give pitchers from both sides more work.

Hannahan and Granderson each had a pair of hits, and Juan Tejada and Brant Ust both had RBI hits.

The Mud Hens used six pitchers for their 10 innings, with four pitchers - Rick Kirsten, Mike Bynum, Matt Roney and Craig Dingman - each covering two innings. Mark Woodyard pitched the ninth and Jason Karnuth threw a scoreless 10th.

The Mud Hens will return to action today when they host Round Rock, Houston's new Triple-A affiliate.
