Makeover madness has hit the Toledo Mud Hens.

The Mud Hens, on top of the International League after the Governors Cup victory, are looking to increase their share in the competitive minor league apparel market. The team has redesigned its brand logo for the upcoming season. The new logo will be seen as a primary logo, secondary logo, road/alternate cap, batting practice logos and new home, road, batting practice on-field jerseys.

The man behind the redesign, Daniel Simon of Daniel Simon Studios, has worked on 20 other minor league logos, Major League Baseball, the NFL, and the Kentucky Derby.

It is not often that one has the opportunity to be a part of something involving a franchise with as rich a history and having such widespread popularity as the Toledo Mud Hens, Simon said. Even better was the project entailed developing a brand identity centering around minor league baseball s most identifiable and wonderful characters.

We are excited to have hundreds of items in the [team s] Swamp Shop with these brand-new logos, said Craig Katz, the Hens manager of souvenir sales services.

Hens general manager Joe Napoli said there s even more to look forward to as the 2006 season approaches and the team unveils its new uniforms.
