  • CHARLOTTE - The Mud Hens' Wilkin Ramirez went 3-for-3 with a home run Sunday, but few others contributed for Toledo as the Charlotte Knights took a 5-2 International League victory at Knights Stadium.

    The Hens were limited to five hits, with Mike Hessman's sacrifice fly providing the other Toledo run in the first.

    Ramirez connected for his fifth homer of the season in the fifth and upped his

    average to .325.

    The Knights scored three runs in the second off Hens starter Chris Lambert (1-5).

    Michael Restovich singled and went to third on a double by Javier Castillo. Brian Myrow follwed with his fifth home run of the season.

    The Knights took control in the third with two more runs. Andy Phillips walked, and after Lambert got a flyout and a strikeout, Michael Restovich hit his seventh home run of the season.


    Lambert went six innings and gave up five runs on six hits and three walks with eight strikeouts.

    Charlotte starter Wes Whisler improved to 5-2. He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits over six innings. He struck out four and walked three. He is carrying a 1.72 ERA.

    Jon Link worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his fourth save.

    Detroit Tigers right-hander

    Jeremy Bonderman, who has been out since last June with a blood clot in his pitching shoulder, is scheduled to make a rehab start Thursday for Toledo at Gwinnett.

    Bonderman gave up two runs on two hits and a walk in seven innings and struck out four in a 13-6 victory Saturday for Single-A West Michigan over Great Lakes.

    Bonderman, who has a career record of 59-66, hasn't appeared in a game for the Tigers since June 1, 2008.
