Contreras dominates Mud Hens

CHARLOTTE - In the part of the linescore that listed runs, hits and errors for the Mud Hens Monday night, third baseman Danny Worth was the only contributor.

Worth's double in the top of eighth inning prevented the Hens from being no-hit. And his error in the bottom of the eighth helped Charlotte get half of its runs as the Knights won the International League game 4-0 at Knights Stadium.

Jose Contreras (2-0) dominated the Hens over nine innings, giving up one hit and three walks with five strikeouts. He has yet to permit a run for the Knights after starting 0-5 with an ERA of 8.19 with the Chicago White Sox.

Charlotte scored twice in the second inning off Toledo starter Brooks Brown. With one out, Michael

Restovich walked followed by Brian Myrow's sixth home run.

Brown gave up two runs on five hits over seven innings. He walked two and struck out four.

In the eighth, with Casey Fien on for Brown, Keith Ginter doubled, then went to third on a single by Eider Torres. Torres took second on catcher's indifference. Andy Phillips grounded to Worth at third, but an errant throw sent two runners home and Phillips to second.
