Mud Hens run win streak to 3

7/17/2009

The Mud Hens stretched their winning streak to three last night after outscoring the struggling Buffalo Bisons 6-2 at Coca-Cola Field.

Second baseman Scott Sizemore and left-fielder Wilkin Ramirez led the way in the Hens' victory, each driving in two, while third baseman Michael Hessman and right-fielder Brent Clevlen had an RBI a piece.

The Hens got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning with a quick double by second baseman Will Rhymes, who scored when Ramirez swatted a homer.

The onslaught resumed in the top of the fourth when Sizemore smacked a double to right field, allowing Brent Clevlen and Jeff Frazier to score after both hit singles.

Sizemore scored again for the Hens in the top of the seventh thanks to Hessman's ground ball single to center.

The Bisons tried to rally in the bottom of the inning when Emil Brown and Chip Ambres hit doubles, the latter bringing Brown home.

Argenis Reyes singled in the bottom of the ninth, allowing Nick Evans to score the Bison's final run of the game, but obviously it wasn't enough to take down the Hens, who still trail Louisville by 8 1/2 games in the IL West.

The Mud Hens face the Bisons in Buffalo at 7:35 tonight and again at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow before coming home for a four-game set against Syracuse.
