The Tigers recalled Carlos Guillen to Detroit on Friday after the outfielder spent the past two days with the Mud Hens.

In his two games in Toledo, Guillen had four hits in seven at-bats (.571 average) with an RBI. He also played five games with Single-A Lakeland, hitting .250 with a double and four walks.

I feel pretty good, Guillen said after leaving Thursday s game for a pinch-hitter. I feel I m getting better every day.

Guillen said Thursday he did not know if he would be promoted to Detroit for the Tigers twinbill Friday.

That s a front-office decision, he said

But Guillen did feel he was ready.

I ve been playing DH, but I feel pretty good at the plate, said Guillen, a natural switch-hitter who batted left-handed when he faced a left-handed pitcher in Wednesday s Mud Hens game.

To make room on the 25-man roster, the Tigers designated outfielder Josh Anderson for assignment. Anderson batted .242 with no home runs, 16 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 74 games for Detroit.
