Mud Hens top Louisville

7/31/2009

LOUISVILLE - The Mud Hens ended their three-game losing streak last night with a little help from Mother Nature, defeating the Louisville Bats 5-1 after a rain forced officials to call the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Hens

didn't need any help in the top of the first, however. Will Rhymes kicked things off with a line-drive double to left field, which was followed by a single from Scott Sizemore.

Jeff Frazier's sacrifice to left allowed Rhymes to score and Mike Hessman's single brought Sizemore home.

Wilkin Ramirez homered to left field on the next play.

Louisville responded in the bottom of the first with swhen Kevin Barker's single to center allowed Drew Stubbs to score.

Neither team scored again until Toledo got one in the sixth inning.

Ryan Roberson had an RBI single just before the rain came.

Rhymes, Hessman and Ramirez all finished with two hits for Toledo.

Ruddy Lugo (9-8) got the win for the Hens, striking out four batters in the process.

Travis Wood (0-1) suffered the loss for the Bats.

Toledo concludes its four-game set against Louisville at 7:05 tonight.

The Hens begin an eight-game homestand at 7 tomorrow night against Buffalo.
