LOUISVILLE — Matt Maloney allowed one run in five innings, and the Louisville Bats defeated the Toledo Mud Hens 3-1 Wednesday at Louisville Slugger Field.

Maloney (3-0), a native of Huron, Ohio, struck out seven and walked none before exiting. Enerio Del Rosario, Carlos Fisher, and Jon Adkins held the Hens scoreless from there.

Toledo's lone run came in the fifth inning on second baseman Max Leon's single to right field that scored third baseman Danny Worth.

Louisville scored all three of its runs in the second inning off Hens starter Enrique Gonzalez (0-2).

Shortstop Zack Cozart and second baseman Chris Valaika led off the frame with back-to-back doubles. Valaika later scored on Leon's throwing error that allowed center fielder John Anderson to reach base. Anderson then came around to score on right fielder Chris Heisey's single to left.
