Hens win 3rd straight

7/8/2010

The Toledo Mud Hens are getting ready to unveil a new theme song, “Kings of the Road” after whipping Louisville 9-4 Thursday night.

It was Toledo's third straight victory on the road (two in Columbus, one in Louisville) after leaving the “friendly” confines of Toledo's Fifth Third Field reeling with an 11-game losing streak, including seven straight at home.

Relief pitcher Josh Rainwater got credit for the victory, allowing only two hits and no runs in 31/3 innings in relief of starter Ryan Ketchner. Jay Sborz finished with a scoreless ninth.

Toledo grabbed a four-run lead in the third after Louisville had opened the scoring with a single run in the second.

Wilkin Ramirez singled to open the Toledo third and went to second on Jeff Kunkel's groundout. Scott Sizemore brought Ramirez home for Toledo's first run.

Will Rhymes followed by forcing Sizemore at second for the second out, but Ryan Striebey singled and Jeff Larish doubled scoring Rhymes and Striebey. After Jeff Frazier was hit by a pitch, Jon Weber singled to score Larish.

Louisville tied the game at 4-all in the fifth on five singles, chasing Ketchner.

The Mud Hens retaliated to Louisville's efforts as quickly as they got back to bat.

Weber singled to open the sixth. After Dugach singled, Enerio DelRosario replaced Jesus Delgado on the mound for Louisville. Kunkel's ground outscored Weber. Sizemore and Rhymes walked to load the bases, and Strieby followed with a single scoring Dugach and Sizemore.

Toledo added two more runs in the eighth. Max Leon smashed his third home run of the season. Rhymes doubled and scored on Frazier's single.
