TARTA to offer Muddy Shuttle

4/14/2011

The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority will resume its Muddy Shuttle service Thursday for the Toledo Mud Hens' home opener, and baseball buses will run for every game this season at Fifth Third Field.

Buses will depart 13 park-and-ride locations an hour before the scheduled start of every game, including 3 p.m. departures for Thursday's 4 p.m. Opening Day doubleheader.

Return trips will depart for the lots after every game, including after the first games of doubleheaders. While Thursday's games are the only planned doubleheader on the home schedule, others could occur because of rainouts.

For rain-related doubleheaders, two bus trips will pick up passengers at the park-and-ride lots: one departing an hour before the make-up game's start, and the other leaving an hour before the previously announced time for the originally scheduled game.

The fare is $1 in each direction, with up to two children age 6 or younger allowed to ride for free with a fare-paying adult. Game tickets are not required.

Muddy Shuttle boarding locations include St. Luke's Hospital and the north lot at the Lucas County Recreation Center in Maumee; Centennial Terrace in Sylvania; River Place Shopping Center and County Charm Shopping Center in Perrysburg; All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford; Waterville Plaza in Waterville; and, in Toledo, Meijer on Alexis Road, Miracle Mile Shopping Center, Southland Shopping Center, Westfield Franklin Park, Westgate Shopping Center, and three stops on Adams Street between 14th and 20th streets.

Buses leave Fifth Third Field from the Washington Street side of the ballpark 20 minutes after the end of each game, except when there are fireworks displays or other entertainment, in which case the buses will not leave until 20 minutes after the entertainment ends.
