Thorman, Inge help Hens win

LOUISVILLE -- Brandon Inge made his first rehab start for the Toledo Mud Hens Thursday night, but it was Scott Thorman who starred at the plate.

Thorman hit a solo home run and added an RBI single to help Toledo defeat Louisville 3-1 Thursday night to pick up the road victory.

As a team the Mud Hens roughed up Bats starting pitcher Homer Bailey, who gave up 11 hits and three runs in 4 1/3 innings while dropping his record with Louisville to 2-1.

Thorman hit his solo shot in the second inning to tie the game at 1 apiece, and then blasted a line drive to right field to score Will Rhymes in the third to put Toledo up 2-1.

Inge, who had singled just ahead of Thorman in the third inning, scored on a line drive to left field by center fielder Ben Guez to cushion the Hens' lead.

That was all the lead that Duane Below would need. The left-hander improved to 6-3 on the season by limiting Louisville to five hits and one run while striking out four and walking two in six innings of work. His lone mistake came in the first inning when he gave up a solo home run to Louisville shortstop Zack Cozart.

Brad Thomas took over for Below and pitched an inning of scoreless relief with two strikeouts before giving way to Ryan Perry who struck out two while he blanked the Bats for two frames to record his fourth save of the season.

Inge was 2-for-5 with a run and two strikeouts while serving as the designated hitter. He is expected to be activated and rejoin the Tigers June 24 against Arizona.

First baseman Ryan Strieby went 3-for-5 with a double for Toledo while Rhymes, Timo Perez, and Guez each collected two hits.
