LOUISVILLE -- The Mud Hens collected 14 hits to back a strong start from Adam Wilk and claim an 8-4 victory over Louisville Wednesday.
Toledo had five doubles, a triple, and a home run among its 14 hits to help snap the team's six-game losing streak.
Wilk allowed seven hits and didn't walk a batter in 6⅔ innings to earn his first victory since July 5.
The Mud Hens scored a pair of runs in the first inning thanks to a pair of Louisville errors. Justin Henry opened the game with a triple, Jerad Head walked and stole second base, and with one out John Lindsey hit a grounder that first baseman Neftali Soto dropped for an error that scored Henry and pushed Head to third.
With two outs Audy Ciriaco hit a grounder up the middle that Chris Valiaka mishandled for an error that scored Head.
Toledo added a run in the second when Argenis Diaz singled, stole second, and scored on a single by Head.
Louisville cut the Hens' lead to 3-2 in the third inning when Felix Perez singled and Brad Peacock hit his first home run with the Bats this season.
Toledo scratched out a run in the fifth when Danny Dorn doubled off reliever Josh Judy, Ciriaco singled him to third, and Bryan Holaday was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Diaz drew a walk from Judy to force home the run.
The Mud Hens scored three times in the sixth to pull away, with Dorn doubling in one run against his former team, and Ciriaco following with a two-run homer, his 11th home run of the season.
The Bats scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth, and Perez homered in the seventh off Wilk.
The Mud Hens closed the scoring with a run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Holaday.
Collin Balester retired all four batters he faced, while Bruce Rondon pitched a scoreless ninth, walking one and striking out two. Of Rondon's 23 pitches, 15 were strikes, and 12 registered 100 miles per hour or faster on the speed gun posted on the Slugger Field scoreboard.
The Mud Hens complete their four-game series with the Bats tonight in a game starting at 7 p.m.
