Mud Hens edge Syracuse 2-1

SYRACUSE, N. Y. -- The Mud Hens edged the Chiefs 2-1 in tonight to pick up their fifth-straight road win.

The Chiefs knocked on the door first in the fourth inning when Zach Walters doubled in a run off Shawn Hill to give Syracuse an early 1-0 lead. The Hens immediately took the advantage in the top half of the fifth when Avisail Garcia and Brandon Douglas each singled in runs to give Toledo the decisive 2-1 lead.

Shawn Hill had his best start of the year, allowing just one run on four hits in seven innings of work.

The Hens outhit Syracuse 11-4 in the effort, and Al Alburquerque picked up his first save after striking out four and not allowing a hit in two innings of work.

The Mud Hens will go for the sweep in Syracuse on Sunday before returning home to face Lehigh Valley Monday night at Fifth Third Field.
