ALLENTOWN, Pa. — After scoring 10 runs in the first game at Lehigh Valley on Saturday, the Mud Hens were shut out for the second straight night, losing 7-0 to the IronPigs on Monday.

Raul Valdes and two relievers combined to shut out the Hens on just four hits as Toledo dropped to 2-5 during the eight-game road trip.

Valdes allowed two hits although he walked four in the first six innings, while Justin Friend threw two scoreless innings and Cesar Jimenez retired the Hens in the ninth.

Lehigh Valley opened the scoring in the second when Cody Overbeck led off the inning by slamming a home run, his 15th this season, off Toledo starter Derek Hankins.

Overbeck also keyed the rally in the fourth that produced a run for the IronPigs.

He got things started with a single, moved to third on a single by Steve Susdorf, and came home on a sacrifice fly by Cameron Rupp.

Lehigh Valley scored twice in the sixth when Leandro Castro singled with one out, and Rupp hammered a two-run homer to left.

The IronPigs put the game out of reach with a three-runhome run in the eighth off Robbie Weinhardt. A single and a walk put the first two runners on, but Gustavo Nunez bobbled a potential double-play ball and got only one out.

Weinhardt walked the bases loaded, and Freddy Galvin hit a line drive to center for a single that scored two runs, and Cesar Hernandez followed with an RBI single that capped the scoring.

Toledo’s Argenis Diaz went 0-for-3 in the contest to snap an 18-game hitting streak.

Diaz was tied with teammate Jordan Lennerton and two other players for the second-longest hit streak in the International League this season.
