RailRiders top Hens with a homer in the 20th inning

MOOSIC, Penn. -- Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's Randy Ruiz hit a home run on the first pitch from the Mud Hen's Justin Souza in the bottom of the 20th inning to end the longest game of the season for any team in the International League with a 2-1 RailRiders victory.

It was Ruiz's 13th homer of the season.

It was the Mud Hens' second straight loss.

The Hens struck out as a team a total of 22 times, including Avasail Garcia going 0-for-9 with four strikeouts and Nick Castellanos going 0-for-8 with three whiffs.

Toledo ended the game by making 13 consecutive outs over a span of 4-plus innings.

The previous longest game in the IL was between Toledo and Rochester on Aug. 5, 2012.

The Mud Hen return home for an 11-game homestand today at 7 p.m. against Buffalo.
