COLUMBUS — Jose Alvarez scattered five hits over seven innings while three Mud Hens hit home runs to lead them past Columbus on Tuesday 4-1.
Mike Cervenak hit a two-run home run in the third, Ben Guez hit a solo shot in the fourth, and Dany Dorn connected for a one-run homer in the eighth to back Alvarez’s performance.
The Hens’ starter (8-5) struck out five, walked one, and allowed one earned run in the victory.
Jordan Lennerton was 2-for-2 with two walks for Toledo (51-68).
Matt LaPorta’s home run in the seventh was the only damage done by the Clippers (56-63).
