MOOSIC, Pa. — Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored on the Mud Hens early and often to secure a 7-4 victory tonight.

The RailRiders knocked around Toledo starter Kyle Lobstein, scoring two runs in the first inning and four more in the third.

In the first, the RailRiders used two hits and a walk to plate two runs. Zoilo Almonte was credited with one of the RBIs on a groundout, and Zelous Wheeler drove in the second run with a single to second.

Toledo cut into the lead in the top of the third when Hernan Perez tripled to knock in Ezequiel Carrera, who had previously doubled.

But the RailRiders took control in the bottom half of the inning by scoring four runs. The big blow was delivered by former Mud Hen Scott Sizemore, who drove a Lobstein pitch over the wall in right field for a three-run home run and a 6-1 lead.

Lobstein (4-6) was roughed up for seven runs on seven hits and two walks, but the left-hander was able to make it through six innings.

Hens relievers Jose Ortega and Chad Smith each delivered a perfect inning in a losing cause.

The RailRiders’ Joel De La Cruz (2-4) was credited with the victory after taking over for starter Shawn Kelley, who left after a scoreless inning. De La Cruz went four innings, surrendering four runs — two of them earned — and six hits. Robert Coello picked up the save.

Toledo’s Carrera and Perez picked up three hits apiece.
