LOUISVILLE — Ezequiel Carrera hit a lead-off home run and Duane Below allowed just seven hits in six innings as the Mud Hens defeated Louisville 3-1 Wednesday night.

Carrera's blast was his sixth homer of the season, and it was the second time this year he has started a game that way. He was 2-for-5 as Toledo collected 10 hits.

Louisville tied the game at 1 in the bottom of the first, but two runs in the sixth inning helped Below (7-3) pick up his team-leading seventh win.

Trevor Crowe, who finished 2-for-3, singled to lead off the sixth, and after a stolen base he scored on Jordan Lennerton's single to center field. Lennerton came around to score later in the inning off a single to left from Danny Worth. Lennerton was ruled safe at the plate when Louisville catcher Bryan Anderson was ruled to have blocked the plate by umpire Brian De Brauwere.

Below struck out three and walked one. Corey Knebel and Daniel Schlereth each allowed a hit in relief before a perfect ninth inning from Kevin Whelan earned him his 16th save.

Toledo returns home today to begin a four-game series with Pawtucket.
