Copland celebration scheduled at BGSU

A Copland Celebration is scheduled at 8 p.m. tomorrow in Kobacker Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center at Bowling Green State University. Featured in the concert to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of composer Aaron Copland will be the BGSU Collegiate Chorale and Wind Ensemble and the Bowling Green Philharmonia. Among pieces to be performed are “Fanfare for the Common Man,” “Appalachian Spring,” and “El Salon Mexico.”

Also in Kobacker Hall, the Eroica Trio will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets range from $16 to $32.

Saxophonist John Sampen and his students will present “Saxophobia,” the first of the school year's Young People's Concerts, at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore center. Tickets are $2 for adults and $1 for children.

Saxophonist Eric Nestler and pianist Kathryn Fouse will perform at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Recital Hall of the University of Toledo's Center for Performing Arts.

The Bethlehem Baptist Church is hosting a College Gospel Choir Fest beginning at 6 p.m. tomorrow with the UT and BGSU gospel choirs. The University of Michigan Gospel Choir will perform at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. That group will join the Eastern Michigan University Gospel Choir for a 4 p.m. Sunday performance.
