Band to play melodies of Lloyd Webber

Sam Szor will lead the Toledo Concert Band in a free Music Under the Stars program titled “Haunting Melodies: Andrew Lloyd Webber” at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Toledo Zoo's amphitheater. Guests will be members of the Toledo Ballet and School.

The theme of Wednesday's free Family Summer Concert series is “Next Up at the Toledo Opera: A Preview of Our 2001-2002 Season.” Sponsored by the Toledo Opera, the one-hour program starts at 7 p.m. at the south end gazebo of the Manor House lawn in Wildwood Metropark, 5100 West Central Ave. If it rains, the show will be moved to Metropark Hall.

This week's schedule for Ohio Light Opera includes The Red Mill at 8 tonight; The Merry War at 8 p.m. tomorrow and 2 p.m. Tuesday; Sari at 2 p.m. Saturday and Wednesday; Carousel at 8 p.m. Saturday (sold out); Yeoman of the Guard at 2 p.m. Sunday, and The Gondoliers at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Violinist Kyoko Takazawa will join conductor Jahja Ling, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Kent-Blossom Chamber Orchestra in Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, Barber's Violin Concerto, and Smith “La Chasse” at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra presents its weekend series tomorrow-Sunday at the Meadow Brook Music Festival at Oakland University in Rochester. All shows start at 8 p.m.

The theme for Family Fun Friday is Vive La France; for Sensational Saturday Classics, Beethoven's Fifth, and for Sunday Summer Pops, Broadway Under the Stars. Tickets for each concert are: $16 to $38.
