TBG schedules jazz, caf concerts

The Toledo Botanical Garden and the Toledo Jazz Society will present Jackie Lee and Lucas Madrazo with the Eric Dickey Trio in an outdoor program at 6:30 tonight in the Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Dr. Tickets are $6, $5 for students and seniors, and $4 for garden or jazz society members.

Instrumentalist and story-teller Jim Presley will perform a free concert at 12:15 p.m. tomorrow in the garden's Caf Concerts series. Presley plays guitar, flute and piano. Violinist Eugene Goldberg will perform at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The John Cleveland Jazz Duo will perform at 7 p.m. tomorrow as part of Perrysburg's Music in the Park concert series. The free concert will take place in Woodlands Park, State Route 795 and East Boundary Street. In the event of rain, the concert will move to the Schaller Memorial Building on West Indiana Avenue and begin at 7:15 p.m.

Sam Szor will lead the Toledo Concert Band in a free Music Under the Stars program, Kid Friendly, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the Toledo Zoo amphitheater. Guests include the Pride of Toledo Women's Barbershop Chorus, saxophonist Lynn Klock, and comediennes Christina D'Amato and Susannah Hillard. Gordon Ward is the evening's commentator.

REGIONAL

The North Coast Big Band will perform at 7 tonight in Shady Lane Park, Norwalk.

The Ohio Light Opera summer season concludes this weekend with performances of The Merry War at 2 p.m. today, The Gondoliers at 8 tonight, Yeoman of the Guard at 8 p.m. tomorrow, The Red Mill at 2 p.m. Saturday, and Carousel at 8 p.m. Saturday. Performances are in the Freedlander Theatre of the College of Wooster in Wooster. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for children and students. Information: 330-263-2345.

The Blossom Festival Band will perform tributes to John Philip Sousa at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Tickets range from $16 to $32. Information: 800-686-1141.

MICHIGAN

Pianist James Tocco will join conductor Giancarlo Guerro and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in an all-Tchaikovsky program at 8 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday. Pianist/conductor Marvin Hamlisch will lead the orchestra in a pops concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Concerts are held at the Meadow Brook Music Festival at Oakland University in Rochester. AUDITIONS

The Toledo Opera has scheduled chorus auditions for tenors, baritones, and basses from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 18. Information: Kevin Bylsma, 419-255-7464.
