Lettermen due in the Valentine

The Lettermen will take the stage at 8 p.m. Friday in the Valentine Theatre, 401 North Superior St. Tickets are $20, $36, and $40 from the box office, 419-242-2787.

Holistic physician Rachel Naomi Remen will speak at 7 tonight for the Authors! Authors! series, sponsored by The Blade and the Toledo-Lucas County Library, in the Stranahan Great Hall, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. Tickets are $8 from all library locations.

The 1942 musical Springtime in the Rockies, starring Betty Grable and John Payne, has been scheduled at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Super Cinemas, 1301 East Mall Dr., Holland, as the latest entry in National Amusements' Silver Screen Classics program.

The price of $1 will buy viewers a ticket, popcorn, and a soft drink. The Silver Screen Classics program is geared toward senior citizens, but movie fans of all ages are welcome to attend.

Two nights of “roots” music have been scheduled in Bowling Green.

Defined as basic music that influences many styles, roots music was recently popularized by the movie O Brother Where Art Thou. Railroad Earth is to perform tomorrow in Howards Club H, 210 North Main St., and Luther Wright and the Wrongs are scheduled Friday in Nate & Wally's Fishbowl, 149 East Wooster St.

Grammy Award winner B.J. Thomas will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. John Sager of Deshler, Ohio, winner of the Toledo Idol contest, will open. Tickets are $19, $24, and $45 from the box office, 419-381-8851, and Ticketmaster.

The Greg Osby Quartet will perform at 8 and 10 tonight in Murphy's Place, 151 Water St., downtown. Tickets are $15 for adults and $6 for students. Information: 419-241-7732.

The Benny Goodman Tribute by award-winning musician Ken Peplowski will be staged at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Ritz Theatre, 30 South Washington St., Tiffin. Tickets are $12 and $14 from the box office, 419-448-8544.

Donny Osmond will appear at 8 p.m. Saturday in the theatre. The show is sold out.

Cirque Magnifique, a combination of European Circus traditions and the theatrical expertise of modern day theater, will take the stage at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Franciscan Center of Lourdes College, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania. The group features aerial feats, acrobatic performances, dance, comedy, and magic. Tickets range from $12 to $35 from the box office, 419-824-3999.

The third annual “Evening of Formal Close-Up Magic,” sponsored by the Toledo Society of Magicians, will be staged at 5 p.m. Sunday in the Clarion Hotel on Secor Road. A second performance has been added this year and will start at 7 p.m. Monday. Doors open 30 minutes before each show.
