Barbershop singers at zoo concert

Sam Szor will lead the Toledo Concert Band in a Music Under the Stars concert, “Makin' Time for Kidz!,” at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the Toledo Zoo amphitheater. Commentator Gordon Ward will introduce the Ritz Barbershop Quartet, Sax 4th Avenue, and the Seaway Commanders.

The Leavin' for Levis Lunchtime Concert Series will feature Mike & Bob of Skoobie Snaks playing modern pop rock from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in Levis Square at Madison Avenue and St. Clair Street.

Jean Holden and Company will perform from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Jazz in the Garden at Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Dr. Guests are encouraged to bring folding chairs or blankets to spread on the lawn. Tickets are $6 adults, $5 for seniors and students, and $4 for TBG and TJS members.

Toledo Botanical Garden and Wildwood Manor House continues its free Noon Tunes Concert Series with Denise Grupp-Verbon performing at noon tomorrow at the garden. Blankets, chairs, and picnic baskets are welcome. The Garden Cafe will be open.

The Vine Ministry will present Fiona Elizabeth Lewis at the first annual Alfresco Evening at 8 p.m. Saturday at International Park. Lewis was the soprano soloist on the Toledo Choral Society's production of The Messiah. Advance tickets are $10 from 419-279-4098, or $12 at the door.

Local band Hep Cat Revival will perform swing and jump tunes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ottawa Park amphitheater in a free concert.

“Bringing the Arts Alive,” the grand opening gala celebrating the debut of the New Center for Fine and Performing Arts at Owens Community College, is 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The gala includes cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, a glass sculpture unveiling, a gallery exhibit opening, a photography exhibit, dance demonstrations and musical performances by the Mighty Meaty Swing Kings, harpist Denise Grupp-Verbon and pianist Peter Ford. Tickets for the black-tie preferred event are $75 for individuals and $140 for couples from 419-661-7081.
