Book festival to feature 112 authors
8/11/2004The Midwest Book Fest, with 112 authors and events for children and adults, takes place Saturday in Bellevue Senior High School, 200 Oakland Ave., Bellevue.
The free fair runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Authors include Jim Mollenkopf, Les Roberts, Bob Casey, and Leonard Kress. Literary genres represented will be fiction, nonfiction, inspirational, poetry, and books for children and young adults.

Country music superstar Clint Black will be in concert at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Ritz Theatre, 30 South Washington St., Tiffin. Tickets range from $59 to $89 from the box office: 419-448-8544.
Rock N Roar, a dance party to benefit the Toledo Zoo, is scheduled from 7 p.m. to midnight Friday at the zoo's Africa exhibit off the Anthony Wayne Trail. Music will be performed by Moore's Law and Disco Invasion. Tickets, $15 for zoo members and $20 for nonmembers for the 21-and-older crowd, will be sold only in advance. A Midsummer Night - Up On the Roof will take place on the rooftop of Civic Plaza of the Main Library, 325 Michigan St. from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday. Entertainment will be provided by the eclectic stylings of Colonel Cleveland the Cuyahogas, a six-piece band with vocalist Lori LeFevre-Johnson. The Riverside Summer Free Concert Series will feature the Findlay Civic Jazz Band at 8 tonight in the Allen P. Dudley Memorial Band Shell in Riverside Park, Findlay.
Pat Lewandowski will play from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow in the Eat to the Beat Thursdays concert series in Levis Square, Madison Avenue and St. Clair Street. Five area restaurants will offer a $5 box lunch.
The 11th year of the nationally recognized Young Artist at Work program concludes with a series of performances and celebrations Friday and Saturday. The final "Friday Show and Tell," presentation will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Friday outside Bay 4 at the Erie Street Market, with students presenting completed works in the visual, performing, and dramatic arts.
Artwork created this summer will be on display at a public reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the market. Entertainment will include performances by the dramatic arts, musical, and dance groups, including a performance by students trained at the Toledo Ballet Association. Information: 419-254-ARTS.
The Young Rep branch of the Toledo Repertoire Theatre presents One Day Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the theater, 16 Tenth St. Included will be Young Rep alumni performances, mini-classes in singing, acting, dancing, and technical theatre and art. Also at the theater, 12 finalists have been chosen to compete for the top prize in the Toledo Rep-A-Looza contest, to start at 7 p.m. Saturday. Rep-A-Looza is a talent contest involving singers, dancers, and actors ranging in age from 5 to 17. The overall winner wins $250.
Atlantic recording artist Shinedown with Crossfade & Silvertide will be in concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 in Headliners, 4500 North Detroit Ave. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at Allied Records and Ticketmaster, 419-474-1333.
