Cher to perform in Savage Hall

Drummer Winard Harper and company return to Murphy's Place, 151 Water St,. for shows at 8 and 10 p.m. today and tomorrow. The sextet will perform in the Detroit International Jazz Festival next weekend. Tickets at Murphy's Place range from $8 to $20. Doors open at 5 p.m. for dinner and preshow cocktails. The Murphy's Place Orchestra, directed by Brad Sharp, will play two shows on Monday beginning at 8 p.m. This 11-piece band will be appearing on the first Monday of every month. This is its first concert of the 2004-05 season. Admission is $6.

CitiFest is sponsoring the second Rally by the River, featuring Toledo's KGB Band, from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in Promenade Park along the downtown riverfront. Admission is $3.

CitiFest is also sponsoring RiverFest & Pandemonium V Fireworks Sunday in Promenade Park. The Labor Day tradition continues to rock the riverfront with live entertainment beginning at 5 p.m. with regional band The Menus taking the stage. The evening closes with fireworks, with the countdown beginning at 9:45 p.m.

Country singer Aaron Tippin will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Hancock County Fair in Findlay. Tickets are $15 and $20.

Recycled Percussion, a group of performers who make music using trash cans, power tools, pots, pans, and other household and discarded items will present a free concert at 8 p.m. Friday in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union at Bowling Green State University.

Sweet Claudette will be hosting a CD release party for her disc "Sending You To Man School" at 9:30 p.m. Friday at the Music Suite, 2218 Airport Hwy. Information: 419-381-9137. On Saturday, she appears in the Attic Bar in Hamtramck, Mich.

Karen Svanoe Westgate will be playing the harp from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and Michelle Adams will be singing blues and country from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Canadian country singer Terri Clark will replace country music star Sara Evans in a concert with Darryl Worley at the Fulton County Fair Monday night. Evans is pregnant and unable to tour.

Genoa Civic Theatre is selling season tickets for its 23rd season, which begins this month. The Dinner Party, a Neil Simon comedy, runs Sept. 10-18. Suds, the '60s musical, is scheduled Nov. 12-21, and Murder in the Magnolias will close the season May 13-21. Season tickets are $18.
