Letterman will join Toledo Symphony in concert

The Lettermen will join the Toledo Symphony in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. The group brings their heart-melting harmonies with hits songs like "Goin Outta My Head," "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You," "Hurt So Band," and others. Tickets range from $25 to $60 from the symphony, 419-246-8000.

Ticket are on sale for the Ultimate Doo-Wop Show, scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at the theater. Starring will be the Tokens with Jay Siegel, the Earls with Larry Chance, the Capris with Nick Santo, the Cleftones with Herbie Cox, Frankie Lymon's Teenagers, the Reflections, Little Peggy March, Eddie Holman, Stormy Weather, and the Crown Vics. Fiddler on the Roof, the 1971 musical starring Topol as the milkman Tevye and Norma Crane as his wife, Golde, in pre-Revolutionary Russia, has been scheduled at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Super Cinemas, 1301 East Mall Dr., Holland, as the latest entry in National Amusements' Silver Screen Classics program. The price of $1 will buy viewers a ticket, popcorn, and a soft drink. The Silver Screen Classics program is geared toward senior citizens, but movie fans of all ages are welcome to attend.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra will be in concert at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Valentine Theatre, 400 North Superior St. Tickets are $20, $30 and $36 from the box office, 419-242-2787.

The Blind Boys of Alabama also will be performing at 8 p.m. Saturday at the theatre. These Grammy Winners have spread the spirit and energy of pure soul gospel music. Tickets are $20, $32, and $42 from the box office.

Cancelled -- entertainers Tom Chapin and Red Grammer, were scheduled to take the take the stage at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Franciscan Theatre & Conference Center of Lourdes College in Sylvania, but the show has been canceled. Refunds can be obtained at the point of purchase.

The River Raisin Centre for the Arts, 114 South Monroe St., Monroe, Mich., will host Dervish at 8 p.m. Saturday. With the June release of the album "Spirit" Dervish has once again demonstration that when it comes to contemporary Irish folk music, they have no equal. Revolution: The Beatles Tribute is scheduled at 8 p.m. Friday at the Ritz Theatre, 30 South Washington St., Tiffin. Forty years after the "British Invasion" this group creates an entertainment experience that goes beyond "Beatlemania." Revolution captures every essence of the Beatles journey through the '60s, from the Ed Sullivan Show, to Sgt. Pepper, right through the break-up years. The Eighth Annual Black Swamp Blues Society's Blues Challenge continues with round two Sunday at the Speedway Lounge, 5625 Benore Rd. with six more blues bands: Slow Burn, Catfish Creek, 427, Rick Hall and the Blues Healers, the Primary Blues Band, and Lightnin' Rod and the Thunderbolts. Admission is $5.

The Toledo solo/duo competitors will perform Oct. 17 at Manhattan's, 1516 Adams St.

The final competition will be held Oct. 23 at the Ohio Theatre, 3112 Lagrange St.

A Bob Dylan Tribute Night is scheduled at 10 tonight at Mickey Finn's Pub, 602 Lagrange St., with some of the area's local talent performing their own versions of his classic songs. Featured will be Jay Harrington, Dooley Wilson, Sarah Cohen, Tony Lowe, Daniel Strange, AJ Szozda and Derek Bish. Cover is $4. The San Francisco band Fojimoto takes the stage at 8:30 tomorrow; LeviRide follows at 10:30; cover is $4. Americana musicians, Jo Serrapere & the Willie Dumms will perform at 9:30 p.m. Friday; cover is $5. And Streetlights of Spotlights with the Wilde Awakes & Daniel Strange are in concert Saturday.
