New Music & Art Festival opens

Bowling Green State University presents its 25th annual New Music & Art Festival today-Saturday. Today's music events include a 2:30 p.m. seminar and 7:15 p.m. forum with composer Shulamit Ran and an 8 p.m. concert in Bryan Recital Hall in the Moore Musical Arts Center, as well as a 10:30 p.m. video screening in Bowling Green's Cla-Zel Theatre. Tomorrow's events include concerts at 10:30 a.m. in Bryan Recital Hall and 2:30 and 8 p.m. in Kobacker Hall in the Moore Center. Saturday events include a 2 p.m. concert in the Great Gallery of the Toledo Museum of Art and an 8 p.m. concert in Kobacker Hall. Tickets for the 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday concerts are $8 for adults and $5 for students. All other events are free, though some require advance tickets.

Art exhibits are scheduled in the Kennedy Green Room and the Dorothy Uber Bryan and Willard Wankelman galleries.

Also in Kobacker Hall, clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein and pianist Steven Beck perform at 8 tonight. Tickets range from $16 to $32. Information: 419-372-8171 or 800-589-2224.

In Bryan Recital Hall, the BGSU Clarinet Choir performs at 8 p.m. Tuesday, and tuba player Timothy Olt and pianist Eric Knechtges perform music of Kim Archer, Steve Winteregg, and others at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Violinist Cristina Muresan joins conductor Stefan Sanderling and the Toledo Symphony in music of Tanguy, Mozart, and Haydn at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Franciscan Theatre & Conference Center of Lourdes College, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania. Tickets are $28 and $32. Information: 419-246-8000.

The BGSU Graduate String Quartet performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Manor House of Wildwood Preserve Metropark, 5100 West Central Ave.
