Melanie, the dynamic singer-songwriter who shot to fame after her appearance at the Woodstock music festival in 1969, will sing holiday songs tomorrow evening at the Happy Badger.

Melanie Safka, who lives in Nashville, has recorded more than 20 albums, including "Yes Santa, There is a Melanie," with 20 songs of the season.

Among her hits are "Look What They've Done to My Song Ma," and "Brand New Key."

A guitarist herself, she'll be accompanied tomorrow on guitar by Beau Jarred Schekeryk, the youngest of her three children. A guitar virtuoso, he'll perform a solo set at 7:30 p.m.

In August, the mother-son team performed to an enthusiastic 300-person crowd in Toledo.

"She loved Toledo. She felt so welcomed," said Donna Cohen, co-owner of the Happy Badger coffee and gift shop in South Toledo.

Opening the evening at 6 p.m. will be the five-piece AntiVillains with Sarah Cohen, a local band that plays new folk-rock with a romantic spin, followed by acoustic duo Blue Moon.

The cafe's dinner menu will be available for purchase, and reservations are encouraged.

In addition, people are asked to donate a finger-food or juice boxes suitable for toddlers at Mom's House, which provides free day care for young parents attending high school or college.

Melanie plays at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the smoke-free, alcohol-free Happy Badger, 1855 South Reynolds Rd., just north of Glendale Avenue. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Information: 419-389-0021.
