Saying it is bringing jazz to national network television in a weekly series for the fi rst time in 40 years, PBS has announced plans to begin Legends of Jazz on June 16 with a one-hour show that will feature winners of the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Awards.

The show, with guests including Toledo vocal jazz icon Jon Hendricks, singer Nancy Wilson, the saxophonist James Moody, the Latin jazz artist Paquito D Rivera, and George Wein, a founder

of the Newport Jazz Festival, will be followed in the fall by 13 weekly 30-minute episodes that will combine live performance, conversation, and archival material.

WBGU-TV, Channel 27 in Bowling Green, will air the one-hour program at 10 p.m. June 16. WGTE-TV, Channel 30 in Toledo, has plans to run the one-hour program but has not yet scheduled a time.
