TSO plans tribute to jazz greats
4/14/2005The Toledo Symphony Orchestra presents a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. Featured will be vocalist Patti Austin, trumpeter Byron Stripling, and conductor Chelsea Tipton II. The possibility of an on-line ticketing operation shared by several area arts groups will be reviewed at an open meeting at 5:30 p.m. today on the fourth floor of the Professional Building, 1838 Parkwood Ave., across from the Toledo Museum of Art.
The findings of a feasibility study for a centralized ticketing option will be presented. The idea is a collaborative effort by the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, the Greater Toledo Convention and Visitors Bureau, Owens Community College, and several performance groups.
Kevin McMahon, president of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, will discuss how his organization recently implemented a ticketing system, similar to the one being considered in Toledo.

The brass-instrument faculty of BGSU's College of Musical Arts will be featured in a free Faculty Artist Series concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Great Gallery of the Toledo Museum of Art, 2445 Monroe St.
BGSU's a cappella choir will present a free concert at 7 p.m. Sunday in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 315 South College Dr., Bowling Green.
