Moody Blues, Beach Boys slated at Michigan venue

Classic rockers the Moody Blues, disco diva Donna Summer, and hard-rock groups 311 and Papa Roach are among the summer headliners at the Jerome-Duncan Ford Theatre in Sterling Heights, Mich.

Palace Sports and Entertainment, owners of the Palace of Auburn Hills and DTE Energy Music Theatre, along with Hillside Productions announced the line-up today.

The 7,000-seat suburban Detroit amphitheater has undergone $20 million in renovations since 2000, including a newly constructed roof that will shield concert-goers from the elements.

Opening the season June 16 will be the Motown Hit Parade with the Spinners and the Temptation Revue, featuring Dennis Edwards, and closing the series will be a boxing match Sept. 14 featuring Mary Jo Sanders.

Season highlights include the Moody Blues June 24 and the Beach Boys June 29; pop singer Michael Bolton July 7; country singer Lyle Lovett and his Large Band July 14; country band Lonestar July 22; Donna Summer July 31; rockers Huey Lewis and the News Aug. 3; 311 and Papa Roach Aug. 17; pop-rocker Michael McDonald Aug. 31, and jazz singers Al Jarreau and Cassandra Wilson with smooth-jazz group the Rippingtons, led by Russ Freeman, Sept. 2.

On June 28, Jerome-Duncan Ford Theatre will host the all-day Sounds of the Underground Tour, with a multiband lineup that includes Lamb of God, Clutch, Unearth, Chimaira, Strapping Young Lad, Gwar, and Full Blown Chaos.
