The on-again, off-again Hall and Oates concert is definitely on for Saturday, a month and a day after it was postponed because of illness.

Singer Daryl Hall was diagnosed with Lyme disease in June, forcing the pop duo to postpone a series of shows including a July 5 date at the Toledo Zoo Amphitheater.

The concert was rescheduled for July 23, then pushed back once more to Saturday.

One of the most popular vocal groups of 1970s and 1980s, Darryl Hall and John Oates first teamed up in Philadelphia in 1972 and produced such hits as "Sara Smile," "Rich Girl," and "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)."

Hall, 55, said in an explanation on his Web site, hallandoates.com, that he woke up June 19 "feeling as though I had been beaten with a baseball bad. My bones ached, I had a headache, and my skin and hair hurt."

The next day he developed 103-degree fever. It took a while before doctors determined that he was suffering from Lyme disease.

The illness is caused by the bite of an infected deer tick. Chronic Lyme disease can cause arthritis, heart problems, neurological illness, and encephalitis.

"Lyme and other tick-related diseases are very serious maladies that for some reason have been underplayed by the media and medical profession," Hall said.

The singer is fully recovered and promised "to make it up to fans" who have been waiting to see the duo in Toledo.

Hall and Oates will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Toledo Zoo Amphitheatre. Tickets are $29.50 to $49.50, available from Ticketmaster and the Toledo Sports Arena box office, 419-698-4545.
