Rapper speaks geek

In a music scene that spins off subgenres with tornado-like speed, the world of rap has a new addition to go along with hip-hop, west coast, east coast, and gangsta. It's called "nerdcore."
Artists such as mc chris, who will be in Bowling Green Wednesday at Howard's Club H, are on the cutting edge of an art form that couldn't be any more specific.
Subject matter for the raps, which also is known as "geeksta," includes Star Wars, computers, and science.
mc chris is a 30-year-old voice-over artist whose work has been featured on Comedy Central's Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Sealab 2021. In both cases he provides the voices for characters who are generally misguided.
He resigned last year from the voice work to concentrate on his rap career, which has featured four albums, one of which includes "Fett's Vette," his rap about Star Wars bounty hunter Boba Fett's wheels.
His current tour is called the "Revenge of the Nerds," even though in an interview on a Web site he distanced himself a bit from the nerdcore scene.
"I'm not as hard core a nerd as people want to think I am. I'm much more of a loser," he said. "I think that being solely about geek stuff like computers is dangerous though, because then you get pigeonholed."
